Rosh Chodesh Nisan 2055

Nisan is called the month of redemption, as the Exodus from Egypt occurred on the 15th of Nisan (Passover). It is considered the first month of the Jewish calendar for counting festivals. The entire month has a festive character — Tachanun is not recited throughout Nisan, eulogies are avoided, and public fasting is not permitted.

Standard Rosh Chodesh prayers are recited: half Hallel, Ya'aleh V'Yavo, the Torah reading, and Musaf. Some have the custom of reading the section from the Torah describing the tribal leaders' offerings during the dedication of the Tabernacle, reading one leader's offering each day from the 1st through the 12th of Nisan.
