Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has given the rooster the understanding to distinguish between day and night.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' אֱלהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעולָם. שֶׁלּא עָשנִי גּוי.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has not made me a gentile.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' אֱלהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעולָם. שֶׁלּא עָשנִי עָבֶד.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has not made me a slave.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, גברים אומרים: שֶׁלֹּא עָשַׂנִי אשָּׁה נשים אומרות: שֶׁעָשַׂנִי כִּרְצוֹנוֹ.

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who removes sleep from my eyes and slumber from my eyelids.

וִיהִי רָצון מִלְּפָנֶיךָ ה' אֱלהֵינוּ וֵאלהֵי אֲבותֵינוּ שֶׁתַּרְגִּילֵנוּ בְּתורָתֶךָ. וְדַבְּקֵנוּ בְּמִצְותֶיךָ. וְאַל תְּבִיאֵנוּ לא לִידֵי חֵטְא. וְלא לִידֵי עֲבֵרָה וְעָון. וְלא לִידֵי נִסָּיון. וְלא לִידֵי בִזָּיון. וְאַל תַּשְׁלֶט בָּנוּ יֵצֶר הָרָע. וְהַרְחִיקֵנוּ מֵאָדָם רָע וּמֵחָבֵר רָע. וְדַבְּקֵנוּ בְּיֵצֶר הַטוב וּבְמַעֲשים טובִים. וְכף אֶת יִצְרֵנוּ לְהִשְׁתַּעְבֶּד לָךְ. וּתְנֵנוּ הַיּום וּבְכָל יום לְחֵן וּלְחֶסֶד וּלְרַחֲמִים בְּעֵינֶיךָ וּבְעֵינֵי כָל רואֵינוּ. וְתִגְמְלֵנוּ חֲסָדִים טובִים. בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה ה' הַגּומֵל חֲסָדִים טובִים לְעַמּו יִשרָאֵל.

And may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our fathers, that You accustom us to Your Torah and attach us to Your commandments. Do not bring us into sin, nor into iniquity, nor into temptation, nor into disgrace. Do not let the evil inclination dominate us. Keep us far from a bad person and a bad companion. Attach us to the good inclination and to good deeds, and compel our inclinations to be subservient to You. Grant us today and every day grace, kindness, and mercy in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who see us, and bestow upon us beneficent kindnesses. Blessed are You, Lord, who bestows beneficent kindness on His people Israel.

May it be Your will, Lord my God and God of my fathers, that You deliver me today and every day from insolent people and from insolence, from an evil person, from a bad companion, from a wicked neighbor, from misfortune, from the destructive Accuser, from a harsh lawsuit and from a harsh litigant, whether he is a member of the covenant or not.

וַיְהִי אַחַר הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה וְהָאֱלהִים נִסָּה אֶת אַבְרָהָם וַיּאמֶר אֵלָיו אַבְרָהָם וַיּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי. וַיּאמֶר קַח נָא אֶת בִּנְךָ אֶת יְחִידְךָ אֲשֶׁר אָהַבְתָּ אֶת יִצְחָק וְלֶךְ לְךָ אֶל אֶרֶץ הַמּרִיָּה וְהַעֲלֵהוּ שָׁם לְעלָה עַל אַחַד הֶהָרִים אֲשֶׁר אמַר אֵלֶיךָ. וַיַּשְׁכֵּם אַבְרָהָם בַּבּקֶר וַיַּחֲבשׁ אֶת חֲמרו וַיִּקַּח אֶת שְׁנֵי נְעָרָיו אִתּו וְאֵת יִצְחָק בְּנו וַיְבַקַּע עֲצֵי עלָה וַיָּקָם וַיֵּלֶךְ אֶל הַמָּקום אֲשֶׁר אָמַר לו הָאֱלהִים. בַּיּום הַשְּׁלִישִׁי וַיִּשּא אַבְרָהָם אֶת עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא אֶת הַמָּקום מֵרָחוק. וַיּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֶל נְעָרָיו שְׁבוּ לָכֶם פּה עִם הַחֲמור וַאֲנִי וְהַנַּעַר נֵלְכָה עַד כּה וְנִשְׁתַּחֲוֶה וְנָשׁוּבָה אֲלֵיכֶם. וַיִּקַּח אַבְרָהָם אֶת עֲצֵי הָעלָה וַיָּשם עַל יִצְחָק בְּנו וַיִּקַּח בְּיָדו אֶת הָאֵשׁ וְאֶת הַמַּאֲכֶלֶת וַיֵּלְכוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם יַחְדָּו. וַיּאמֶר יִצְחָק אֶל אַבְרָהָם אָבִיו וַיּאמֶר אָבִי וַיּאמֶר הִנֶּנִּי בְנִי וַיּאמֶר הִנֵּה הָאֵשׁ וְהָעֵצִים וְאַיֵּה הַשּה לְעלָה. וַיּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אֱלהִים יִרְאֶה לּו הַשּה לְעלָה בְּנִי וַיֵּלְכוּ שְׁנֵיהֶם יַחְדָּו. וַיָּבאוּ אֶל הַמָּקום אֲשֶׁר אָמַר לו הָאֱלהִים וַיִּבֶן שָׁם אַבְרָהָם אֶת הַמִּזְבֵּחַ וַיַּעֲרךְ אֶת הָעֵצִים וַיַּעֲקד אֶת יִצְחָק בְּנו וַיָּשם אתו עַל הַמִּזְבֵּחַ מִמַּעַל לָעֵצִים. וַיִּשְׁלַח אַבְרָהָם אֶת יָדו וַיִּקַּח אֶת הַמַּאֲכֶלֶת לִשְׁחט אֶת בְּנו. וַיִּקְרָא אֵלָיו מַלְאַךְ ה' מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם וַיּאמֶר אַבְרָהָם אַבְרָהָם וַיּאמֶר הִנֵּנִי. וַיּאמֶר אַל תִּשְׁלַח יָדְךָ אֶל הַנַּעַר וְאַל תַּעַש לו מְאוּמָה כִּי עַתָּה יָדַעְתִּי כִּי יְרֵא אֱלהִים אַתָּה וְלא חָשכְתָּ אֶת בִּנְךָ אֶת יְחִידְךָ מִמֶּנִּי. וַיִּשּא אַבְרָהָם אֶת עֵינָיו וַיַּרְא וְהִנֵּה אַיִל אַחַר נֶאֱחַז בַּסְּבַךְ בְּקַרְנָיו וַיֵּלֶךְ אַבְרָהָם וַיִּקַּח אֶת הָאַיִל וַיַּעֲלֵהוּ לְעלָה תַּחַת בְּנו. וַיִּקְרָא אַבְרָהָם שֵׁם הַמָּקום הַהוּא ה' יִרְאֶה אֲשֶׁר יֵאָמֵר הַיּום בְּהַר ה' יֵרָאֶה. וַיִּקְרָא מַלְאַךְ ה' אֶל אַבְרָהָם שֵׁנִית מִן הַשָּׁמָיִם. וַיּאמֶר בִּי נִשְׁבַּעְתִּי נְאֻם ה' כִּי יַעַן אֲשֶׁר עָשיתָ אֶת הַדָּבָר הַזֶּה וְלא חָשכְתָּ אֶת בִּנְךָ אֶת יְחִידֶךָ. כִּי בָרֵךְ אֲבָרֶכְךָ וְהַרְבָּה אַרְבֶּה אֶת זַרְעֲךָ כְּכוכְבֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם וְכַחול אֲשֶׁר עַל שפַת הַיָּם וְיִרַשׁ זַרְעֲךָ אֵת שַׁעַר איְבָיו. וְהִתְבָּרֲכוּ בְזַרְעֲךָ כּל גּויֵי הָאָרֶץ עֵקֶב אֲשֶׁר שָׁמַעְתָּ בְּקלִי. וַיָּשָׁב אַבְרָהָם אֶל נְעָרָיו וַיָּקֻמוּ וַיֵּלְכוּ יַחְדָּו אֶל בְּאֵר שָׁבַע וַיֵּשֶׁב אַבְרָהָם בִּבְאֵר שָׁבַע.

After these things, God tested Abraham and said to him, “Abraham,” and he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Please take your son, your only son whom you love, Isaac, and go to the land of Moriah and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains that I will tell you about.” Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac. He split the wood for the burnt offering, arose, and went to the place God had told him. On the third day, Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from afar. Abraham said to his young men, “Stay here with the donkey, and I and the boy will go over there; we will worship and come back to you.” Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son, and he took in his hand the fire and the knife, and the two of them went together. Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” He said, “Behold the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham said, “God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So the two of them went together. They came to the place that God had told him about, and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound Isaac his son and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slaughter his son. But the angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.” He said, “Do not lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me.” And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram caught in a thicket by its horns. Abraham went and took the ram and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son. Abraham called the name of that place “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.” The angel of the Lord called to Abraham a second time from heaven and said, “By Myself I have sworn, declares the Lord, because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you, and I will surely multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and as the sand that is on the seashore. And your offspring shall possess the gate of his enemies, and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beersheba, and Abraham lived at Beersheba.

Master of the Universe, just as Abraham our father suppressed his compassion to do Your will with a complete heart, so may Your compassion suppress Your anger from us, and may Your mercy be revealed over Your attributes. And deal with us, Lord our God, with the attribute of kindness and with the attribute of mercy. And in Your great goodness, may Your anger turn away from Your people, from Your city, from Your land, and from Your inheritance. And fulfill for us, Lord our God, the word that You promised us in Your Torah through Moses Your servant, as it is stated, “And I will remember My covenant with Jacob and also My covenant with Isaac and also My covenant with Abraham will I remember, and I will remember the land.”

A person should always be God-fearing in private, acknowledge the truth, and speak the truth in his heart. And he should rise and say: Master of all the worlds, not on account of our righteousness do we lay our supplications before You, but because of Your great mercies. What are we? What is our life? What is our kindness? What is our righteousness? What is our salvation? What is our strength? What is our might? What can we say before You, Lord our God and God of our fathers? Indeed, all the mighty are as nothing before You, men of renown as though they had never been, the wise as if devoid of knowledge, and the discerning as if devoid of intelligence, for most of their deeds are void and the days of their lives are empty before You. The preeminence of man over beast is nothing, for all is vanity. But we are Your people, members of Your covenant, children of Abraham, Your beloved, to whom You swore at Mount Moriah, the offspring of Isaac, his only son, who was bound on the altar, the congregation of Jacob, Your firstborn son, whom because of Your love for him and Your delight in him, You named Israel and Jeshurun.

לְפִיכָךְ אֲנַחְנוּ חַיָּבִים לְהודות לְךָ וּלְשַׁבֵּחֲךָ וּלְפָאֶרְךָ וּלְבָרֵךְ וּלְקַדֵּשׁ וְלָתֵת שֶׁבַח וְהודָיָה לִשְׁמֶךָ. אַשְׁרֵינוּ מַה טּוב חֶלְקֵנוּ וּמַה נָּעִים גּורָלֵנוּ וּמַה יָּפָה יְרֻשָּׁתֵנוּ. אַשְׁרֵינוּ שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ מַשְׁכִּימִים וּמַעֲרִיבִים עֶרֶב וָבקֶר וְאומְרִים פַּעֲמַיִם בְּכָל יום.

Therefore, we are obliged to thank You, to praise You, to glorify You, to bless, sanctify, and give thanks and praise to Your name. Fortunate are we; how good is our portion, how pleasant our lot, and how beautiful our heritage. Fortunate are we that we rise early and stay up late, evening and morning, saying twice each day:

שְׁמַע יִשרָאֵל ה' אֱלהֵינוּ ה’ אֶחָד.

Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.

בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם כְּבוד מַלְכוּתו לְעולָם וָעֶד.

In a whisper:
Blessed be the name of His glorious kingdom forever and ever.

וְאָהַבְתָּ אֵת ה' אֱלהֶיךָ בְּכָל לְבָבְךָ וּבְכָל נַפְשְׁךָ וּבְכָל מְאדֶךָ: וְהָיוּ הַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה אֲשֶׁר אָנכִי מְצַוְּךָ הַיּום עַל לְבָבֶךָ: וְשִׁנַּנְתָּם לְבָנֶיךָ וְדִבַּרְתָּ בָּם בְּשִׁבְתְּךָ בְּבֵיתֶךָ וּבְלֶכְתְּךָ בַדֶּרֶךְ וּבְשָׁכְבְּךָ וּבְקוּמֶךָ: וּקְשַׁרְתָּם לְאות עַל יָדֶךָ וְהָיוּ לְטטָפת בֵּין עֵינֶיךָ: וּכְתַבְתָּם עַל מְזֻזות בֵּיתֶךָ וּבִשְׁעָרֶיךָ:

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words, which I command you today, shall be upon your heart. And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates.

אַתָּה הוּא עַד שֶׁלּא נִבְרָא הָעולָם אַתָּה הוּא מִשֶּׁנִּבְרָא הָעולָם. אַתָּה הוּא בָּעולָם הַזֶּה וְאַתָּה הוּא לָעולָם הַבָּא: קַדֵּשׁ אֶת שִׁמְךָ עַל מַקְדִּישֵׁי שְׁמֶךָ וְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת שִׁמְךָ בְּעולָמֶךָ. וּבִישׁוּעָתְךָ תָּרִים וְתַגְבִּיהַּ קַרְנֵנוּ: ברוּךְ אַתָּה ה', הַמְקַדֵּשׁ אֶת שְׁמו בָּרַבִּים:

You were the same before the world was created; You are the same since the world has been created. You are the same in this world and You will be the same in the world to come. Sanctify Your name through those who sanctify Your name, and sanctify Your name in Your world. And in Your salvation, raise and exalt our horn. Blessed are You, Lord, who sanctifies His name among the multitudes.

אַתָּה הוּא ה' אֱלהֵינוּ בַּשָּׁמַיִם וּבָאָרֶץ וּבִשְׁמֵי הַשָּׁמַיִם הָעֶלְיונִים. אֱמֶת אַתָּה הוּא רִאשׁון וְאַתָּה הוּא אַחֲרון וּמִבַּלְעָדֶיךָ אֵין אֱלהִים: קַבֵּץ קוֶיךָ מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפות הָאָרֶץ. יַכִּירוּ וְיֵדְעוּ כָּל בָּאֵי עולָם כִּי אַתָּה הוּא הָאֱלהִים לְבַדְּךָ לְכל מַמְלְכות הָאָרֶץ: אַתָּה עָשיתָ אֶת הַשָּׁמַיִם וְאֶת הָאָרֶץ אֶת הַיָּם וְאֶת כָּל אֲשֶׁר בָּם וּמִי בְּכָל מַעֲשי יָדֶיךָ בָּעֶלְיונִים או בַתַּחְתּונִים שֶׁיּאמַר לְךָ מַה תַּעֲשה אָבִינוּ שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִם עֲשה עִמָּנוּ חֶסֶד בַּעֲבוּר שִׁמְךָ הַגָּדול שֶׁנִּקְרָא עָלֵינוּ. וְקַיֶּם לָנוּ ה' אֱלהֵינוּ מַה שֶׁכָּתוּב בָּעֵת הַהִיא אָבִיא אֶתְכֶם וּבָעֵת קַבְּצִי אֶתְכֶם. כִּי אֶתֵּן אֶתְכֶם לְשֵׁם וְלִתְהִלָּה בְּכל עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ. בְּשׁוּבִי אֶת שְׁבוּתֵיכֶם לְעֵינֵיכֶם. אָמַר ה':

You are the Lord our God in the heavens and on the earth and in the upper celestial heavens. You are truly the first and You are the last, and besides You there is no god. Gather Your dispersed from the four corners of the earth. Let all the inhabitants of the world recognize and know that You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You created the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and who among all the works of Your hands, whether celestial or terrestrial, can tell You what to do? Our Father in Heaven, deal kindly with us for the sake of Your great name called upon us. And fulfill for us, Lord our God, what is written: At that time I will bring you and at the time of gathering you. For I will make you a name and a praise among all the peoples of the earth, when I return your captives before your eyes, says the Lord.
