לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל יוֹנַת אֵלֶם רְחֹקִים לְדָוִד מִכְתָּם בֶּאֱחֹז אֹתוֹ פְלִשְׁתִּים בְּגַת:
For the conductor, on yonath elem rehokim, of David a michtam, when the Philistines seized him in Gath.
חָנֵּנִי אֱלֹהִים כִּי שְׁאָפַנִי אֱנוֹשׁ כָּל הַיּוֹם לֹחֵם יִלְחָצֵנִי:
Be gracious to me, O God, because men yearn to swallow me; all day long the warrior oppresses me.
שָׁאֲפוּ שׁוֹרְרַי כָּל הַיּוֹם כִּי רַבִּים לֹחֲמִים לִי מָרוֹם:
Those who eye me have yearned to swallow me all day long, for many fight against me, O Most High.
יוֹם אִירָא אֲנִי אֵלֶיךָ אֶבְטָח:
The day I fear, I will hope to You.
בֵּאלֹהִים אֲהַלֵּל דְּבָרוֹ בֵּאלֹהִים בָּטַחְתִּי לֹא אִירָא מַה יַּעֲשֶׂה בָשָׂר לִי:
With God, I will praise His word; in God I trusted, I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
כָּל הַיּוֹם דְּבָרַי יְעַצֵּבוּ עָלַי כָּל מַחְשְׁבֹתָם לָרָע:
All day long, my words grieve [me]; all their thoughts about me are for evil.
יָגוּרוּ (יצפינו) יִצְפּוֹנוּ הֵמָּה עֲקֵבַי יִשְׁמֹרוּ כַּאֲשֶׁר קִוּוּ נַפְשִׁי:
They lodge, they hide, they watch my steps, when they hope for my life.
עַל אָוֶן פַּלֶּט לָמוֹ בְּאַף עַמִּים הוֹרֵד אֱלֹהִים:
For iniquity, they expect rescue. Bring down nations with anger, O God.
נֹדִי סָפַרְתָּה אָתָּה שִׂימָה דִמְעָתִי בְנֹאדֶךָ הֲלֹא בְּסִפְרָתֶךָ:
You counted my wanderings; place my tears in Your flask. Is it not in Your accounting?
אָז יָשׁוּבוּ אוֹיְבַי אָחוֹר בְּיוֹם אֶקְרָא זֶה יָדַעְתִּי כִּי אֱלֹהִים לִי:
Then my enemies will retreat on the day that I call. Thereby I will know that I have a God.
בֵּאלֹהִים אֲהַלֵּל דָּבָר בַּיהוָה אֲהַלֵּל דָּבָר:
With God['s justice] I will praise a word; with the Lord['s kindness] I will praise a word.
בֵּאלֹהִים בָּטַחְתִּי לֹא אִירָא מַה יַּעֲשֶׂה אָדָם לִי:
In God I trusted, I will not fear. What can man do to me?
עָלַי אֱלֹהִים נְדָרֶיךָ אֲשַׁלֵּם תּוֹדֹת לָךְ:
Upon me, O God, are Your vows; I will pay thanksgiving offerings to You.
כִּי הִצַּלְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִמָּוֶת הֲלֹא רַגְלַי מִדֶּחִי לְהִתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהִים בְּאוֹר הַחַיִּים:
For You saved my soul from death, even my feet from stumbling, to walk before God in the light of life.
