אָשִׁירָה לַיהֹוָה בְּחַיָּי, אֲזַמְּרָה לֵאלֹהַי בְּעוֹדִי: יֶעֱרַב עָלָיו שִׂיחִי, אָנֹכִי אֶשְׂמַח בַּיהֹוָה: הוֹדוּ לַיהֹוָה בְּכִנּוֹר, בְּנֵבֶל עָשׂוֹר זַמְּרוּ לוֹ: אֱלֹהִים, שִׁיר חָדָשׁ אָשִׁירָה לָּךְ, בְּנֵבֶל עָשׂוֹר אֲזַמְּרָה לָּךְ: עֲלֵי עָשׂוֹר וְעֵלִי נָבֶל, עֲלֵי הִגָּיוֹן בְּכִנּוֹר: כִּי שִׂמַּחְתַּנִי יְהֹוָה בְּפָעֳלֶךָ, בְּמַעֲשֵׂי יָדֶיךָ אֲרַנֵּן:
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I yet have being. May my meditation be pleasing to Him; as for me, I will rejoice in the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; with the ten-stringed lute sing praises to Him. O God, a new song will I sing to You; upon the ten-stringed lute will I sing praises to You. Upon the ten-stringed instrument and upon the lute, upon the meditation with the lyre. For You, O Lord, have made me glad through Your work; at the works of Your hands I sing for joy.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, אֲדוֹן כֹּל, בּוֹרֵא כָּל הַנְּשָׁמוֹת, רִבּוֹן כָּל הַמַּעֲשִׂים, הַבּוֹחֵר בְּשִׁירֵי זִמְרָה, עָזְרֵנִי וְחָנֵּנִי בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וּבַחֲסָדֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים, שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְעוֹרֵר וּלְהוֹצִיא וּלְגַלּוֹת כָּל הָעֲשָׂרָה מִינֵי נְגִינָה שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בָּהֶם סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים. וּבִזְכוּת אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה קַפִּיטְל תְּהִלִּים שֶׁאָמַרְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ, שֶׁהֵם כְּנֶגֶד עֲשָׂרָה מִינֵי נְגִינָה שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בָּהֶם סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים, שֶׁהֵם:
Master of the World, Lord of all, Creator of all souls, Master of all works, who chooses songs of praise: help me and be gracious to me in Your abundant mercy and Your mighty acts of kindness, that I may merit to awaken and to bring forth and to reveal all the ten kinds of melody with which the Book of Psalms was composed. And in the merit of these ten chapters of Psalms that I have recited before You, which correspond to the ten kinds of melody with which the Book of Psalms was composed, which are:
אַשְׁרֵי, בְּרָכָה, מַשְׂכִּיל, שִׁיר, נִצּוּחַ, נִגּוּן, תְּפִלָּה, הוֹדָאָה, מִזְמוֹר, הַלְלוּיָהּ. בִּזְכוּת הַמִּזְמוֹרִים וּבִזְכוּת הַפְּסוּקִים וּבִזְכוּת תֵּבוֹתֵיהֶם וְאוֹתִיּוֹתֵיהֶם וּנְקֻדוֹתֵיהֶם וְטַעֲמֵיהֶם וְהַשֵּׁמוֹת הַיּוֹצְאִים מֵהֶם, מֵרָאשֵׁי תֵּבוֹת וּמִסּוֹפֵי תֵּבוֹת, וּבִזְכוּת דָּוִד הַמֶּלֶךְ עָלָיו הַשָּׁלוֹם עִם כָּל הָעֲשָׂרָה צַדִּיקִים שֶׁיָּסְדוּ סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים,
Ashrei, Berachah, Maskil, Shir, Nitzuach, Niggun, Tefillah, Hoda'ah, Mizmor, Halleluyah. In the merit of the psalms, and in the merit of the verses, and in the merit of their words and their letters and their vowel points and their cantillation marks, and the Names that issue forth from them, from the initial letters and from the final letters; and in the merit of David the King, peace be upon him, together with all the ten tzaddikim who founded the Book of Psalms,
(וּבִזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיק יְסוֹד עוֹלָם, נַחַל נוֹבֵעַ מְקוֹר חָכְמָה, רַבֵּנוּ רַבִּי נַחְמָן בֶּן פֵיגֶא זְכוּתוֹ יָגֵן עָלֵינוּ, אֲשֶׁר גִּלָּה וְתִקֵּן לוֹמַר אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה קַפִּיטְל תְּהִלִּים בִּשְׁבִיל תִּקּוּן הַבְּרִית) וּבִזְכוּת כָּל הַצַּדִּיקִים וְהַחֲסִידִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים, תְּזַכֵּנִי וּתְחָנֵּנִי שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים לְהוֹצִיא כָּל הַטִּפּוֹת קֶרִי שֶׁיָּצְאוּ מִמֶּנִּי לְבַטָּלָה בֵּין בְּשׁוֹגֵג בֵּין בְּמֵזִיד בֵּין בְּאֹנֶס בֵּין בְּרָצוֹן,
(And in the merit of the tzaddik, foundation of the world, a flowing stream, a source of wisdom, our teacher Rabbi Nachman son of Feiga, may his merit shield us, who revealed and instituted the recitation of these ten chapters of Psalms for the rectification of the covenant) and in the merit of all the true tzaddikim and pious ones, grant me merit and be gracious to me, that I may merit, through Your abundant mercy, to bring forth all the drops of seed that issued from me in vain, whether unintentionally or intentionally, whether under compulsion or willingly,

If one is saying it, Heaven forbid, because of an occurrence that happened to him that night, he says:
וּבִפְרָט כָּל הַטִּפּוֹת שֶׁיָּצְאוּ מִמֶּנִּי בַּלַּיְלָה הַזֹּאת, עַל יְדֵי מִקְרֶה לַיְלָה שֶׁקָּרָה לִי בַּעֲווֹנוֹתַי הָרַבִּים,
and in particular all the drops that issued from me on this night, through the nocturnal occurrence that befell me because of my many sins,
כֻּלָּם אֶזְכֶּה בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וּבְחֶמְלָתְךָ הַגְּדוֹלָה וּבְכֹחֲךָ הַגָּדוֹל, לְהוֹצִיאָם מֵהַקְּלִפּוֹת וּמֵהַסִּטְרִין אָחֳרָנִין, מִכָּל הַמְּקוֹמוֹת שֶׁנָּפְלוּ וְנִתְפַּזְּרוּ וְנָפוֹצוּ וְנִדְּחוּ לְשָׁם, וְאֵל יִדַּח מִמְּךָ נִדָּח. וְתַכְנִיעַ וּתְשַׁבֵּר וְתַהֲרֹג וְתַעֲקֹר וּתְכַלֶּה וּתְבַטֵּל כָּל הַקְּלִפּוֹת וְכָל הָרוּחִין וְשֵׁדִין וְלִילִין, שֶׁנַּעֲשׂוּ וְנִבְרְאוּ וְנוֹצְרוּ עַל יְדֵי אֵלּוּ הַטִּפּוֹת שֶׁיָּצְאוּ מִמֶּנִּי לְבַטָּלָה, וְתָסִיר מֵהֶם חִיּוּתָם, וְתוֹצִיא וְתִגְזֹל מֵהֶם הַחִיּוּת דִּקְדֻשָּׁה וְכָל הַנִּיצוֹצוֹת הַקְּדוֹשִׁים שֶׁבָּלְעוּ:
may I merit, through Your abundant mercy and Your great compassion and Your great power, to bring them all forth from the kelipot and from the Other Side, from all the places into which they have fallen and been scattered and dispersed and driven away, so that none who is driven away shall remain driven away from You. And may You subdue and shatter and slay and uproot and destroy and nullify all the kelipot and all the spirits and demons and night-demons that were made and created and formed through these drops that issued from me in vain; and may You strip from them their vitality, and bring forth and wrest from them the vitality of holiness and all the holy sparks that they have swallowed.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, אֵל חַי וְקַיָּם, חֵי הַחַיִּים, מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, הַדָּן אֶת כָּל הָעוֹלָם לְכַף זְכוּת תָּמִיד, הֶחָפֵץ חֶסֶד וּמַרְבֶּה לְהֵיטִיב. אָבִי אָבִי, גּוֹאֲלֵי וּפוֹדִי, יָדַעְתִּי יְהֹוָה יָדַעְתִּי, כִּי אֲנִי בְּעַצְמִי הַחַיָּב וְהַפּוֹשֵׁעַ, אֲפִלּוּ בְּהַמִּקְרוֹת שֶׁנִּזְדַּמְּנוּ לִי בְּשׁוֹגֵג,
Master of the World, living and enduring God, Life of all life, full of mercy, who ever judges the whole world favorably, who desires kindness and abounds in doing good. My Father, my Father, my Redeemer and my Deliverer, I know, O Lord, I know, that I myself am the culpable one and the transgressor, even in the occurrences that befell me unintentionally,
כִּי לֹא שָׁמַרְתִּי אֶת הַמַּחֲשָׁבָה כְּלָל, וְהִרְהַרְתִּי בַּיּוֹם, עַד שֶׁבָּאתִי לִידֵי טֻמְאָה בַּלַּיְלָה, וְעַל יְדֵי זֶה קִלְקַלְתִּי מַה שֶׁקִּלְקַלְתִּי, וְגָרַמְתִּי מַה שֶׁגָּרַמְתִּי, וְשִחַתְתִּי מַה שְּׁשִּׁחַתְתִּי.
for I did not guard my thoughts at all, and I entertained impure thoughts by day, until I came to defilement at night; and through this I damaged what I damaged, and I caused what I caused, and I corrupted what I corrupted.
אוֹי אוֹי אוֹי, אוֹיָה עַל נַפְשִׁי, אוֹי לְנַפְשִׁי, כִי גָּמַלְתִּי לִי רָעָה. מָה אֹמַר, מָה אֲדַבֵּר, מָה אֶצְטַדָּק, מָה אֹמַר, מָה אֲדַבֵּר, מָה אֶצְטַדָּק, הָאֱלֹהִים מָצָא אֶת עֲוֹנִי. הִנְנִי לִפָנֶיךָ בְּאַשְׁמָה רַבָּה, הִנְנִי לִפָנֶיךָ מַלֵּא בּוּשָׁה וּכְלִמָּה, מָלֵא טִנּוּפִים וְלִכְלוּכִים, מָלֵא תּוֹעֵבוֹת רָעוֹת, וְאֵין שׁוּם לָשׁוֹן בָּעוֹלָם שֶׁאוּכַל לְכַנּוֹת בּוֹ עֹצֶם הָרַחֲמָנוּת שֶׁיֵּשׁ עָלַי, כִּי רַע וָמָר, כִּי נָגַע עַד הַנָּפֶשׁ.
Woe, woe, woe! Alas for my soul, woe to my soul, for I have brought evil upon myself. What shall I say, what shall I speak, how shall I justify myself? What shall I say, what shall I speak, how shall I justify myself? God has found out my iniquity. Here I am before You in great guilt; here I am before You, full of shame and disgrace, full of filth and defilement, full of evil abominations; and there is no tongue in all the world with which I could express the immensity of the pity that is upon me, for it is evil and bitter, for it has touched the very soul.
מָר לִי מְאֹד אָבִי שֶׁבַּשָּׁמַיִם, מָר לִי מְאֹד רִבּוֹן כָּל הָעוֹלָמִים, רְאֵה אַנְחָתִי וְאַנְקָתִי, כִּי נַפְשִׁי מָרָה לִי מְאֹד, עַד אֲשֶׁר אֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ אֵיךְ אֲנִי יָכוֹל לִחְיוֹת מֵעֶצֶם מְרִירוּת נַפְשִׁי אֲשֶׁר עַד גָּבְהֵי שָׁמַיִם יַגִּיעַ, כִּי קַצְתִּי בְחַיַּי לָמָּה לִּי חַיִּים כָּאֵלֶּה, חַיִּים מָרִים וּמְרוֹרִים מִמָּוֶת. אֶת קֻבַּעַת כּוֹס הַתַּרְעֵלָה שָׁתִית מָצִית נַפְשִׁי:
It is very bitter for me, my Father in Heaven; it is very bitter for me, Master of all worlds. See my sighing and my groaning, for my soul is exceedingly bitter to me, so that I do not know how I can go on living from the sheer bitterness of my soul, which reaches to the heights of heaven; for I loathe my life. Why should I have such a life, a life bitter and more bitter than death? The goblet, the cup of reeling, you have drunk; you have drained it, O my soul.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, אַתָּה לְבַד יָדַעְתָּ, רִבּוּי וְעֹצֶם הַפְּגָמִים הַגְּדוֹלִים הָעֲצוּמִים וְהַנּוֹרָאִים, שֶׁנַּעֲשִׂים עַל יְדֵי זֶה בְּכָל הָעוֹלָמוֹת, וְעַתָּה אֵיךְ אוּכַל לְתַקֵּן זֹאת, וּבַמֶּה יִזְכֶּה נַעַר כָּמוֹנִי לְתַקֵּן אֵת אֲשֶׁר שִׁחַתְתִּי. אַךְ אַף עַל פִּי כֵן יָדַעְתִּי וַאֲנִי מַאֲמִין בֶּאֱמוּנָה שְׁלֵמָה כִּי אֵין שׁוּם יֵאוּשׁ בָּעוֹלָם כְּלָל, וַעֲדַיִן יֶשׁ לִי תִקְוָה, וַעֲדַיִן לֹא אָבְדָה תוֹחַלְתִּי מֵיְהֹוָה, כִּי חַסְדֵי יְהֹוָה כִּי לֹא תָמְנוּ, כִּי לֹא כָלוּ רַחֲמָיו:
Master of the World, You alone know the multitude and the magnitude of the great, mighty, and awesome blemishes that are caused through this in all the worlds; and now, how can I repair this, and by what means shall a youth like me merit to repair what I have corrupted? Yet even so, I know, and I believe with perfect faith, that there is no despair in the world at all, and I still have hope, and my expectation from the Lord has not perished; for the kindnesses of the Lord have not ceased, for His mercies have not ended.
עַל כֵּן בָּאתִי לְפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי, אֱלֹהֵי אַבְרָהָם אֱלֹהֵי יִצְחָק וֵאלֹהֵי יַעֲקֹב, וֵאלֹהֵי כָּל הַצַּדִּיקִים וְהַחֲסִידִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים, וֵאלֹהֵי כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל, אֱלֹהֵי הָרִאשׁוֹנִים וְהָאַחֲרוֹנִים, שֶׁתְּרַחֵם עָלַי וְתַעֲשֶׂה אֶת אֲשֶׁר בְּחֻקֶּיךָ אֵלֵךְ וְאֶת מִשְׁפָּטֶיךָ אֶשְׁמֹר, וְתָכֹף אֶת יִצְרִי לְהִשְׁתַּעְבֵּד לָךְ, וְתִגְעַר בְּהַיֵּצֶר הָרָע, וּתְגָרְשׁוּ מִמֶּנִּי מֵעַתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם. וְתִשְׁמְרֵנִי וְתַצִּילֵנִי וּתְפַלְּטֵנִי מֵעַתָּה מִכָּל מִינֵי הִרְהוּרִים רָעִים, וּמִמַּחְשָׁבוֹת רָעוֹת, וּמִפְּגַם הָרְאוּת, וּמִפְּגַם הַדִּבּוּר, וְתַצִּילֵנִי מֵעַתָּה מִכָּל מִינֵי פְּגַם הַבְּרִית שֶׁבָּעוֹלָם, בְּמַחֲשָׁבָה דִּבּוּר וּמַעֲשֶׂה, וְתִהְיֶה עִמִּי תָּמִיד וְתִשְׁמְרֵנִי וְתַצִּילֵנִי מִמִּקְרֶה בֵּין בַּיּוֹם וּבֵין בַּלַּיְלָה מֵעַתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם:
Therefore I have come before You, O Lord my God and God of my fathers, God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob, God of all the true tzaddikim and pious ones, God of all Israel, God of the first and of the last, that You may have mercy on me and bring it about that I walk in Your statutes and observe Your ordinances; and that You bend my inclination to be subservient to You, and rebuke the evil inclination and drive it from me, from now and forevermore. And guard me and save me and deliver me, from now on, from every kind of evil musing, and from evil thoughts, and from the blemish of sight, and from the blemish of speech; and save me, from now on, from every kind of blemish of the covenant in the world, in thought, speech, and deed; and be with me always, and guard me and save me from any occurrence, whether by day or by night, from now and forevermore.
אָבִינוּ, מֶלֶךְ אֵל חַי וְקַיָּם, גּוֹאֵל חָזָק, שִׁטַּחְתִּי אֵלֶיךָ כַּפָּי, הַצֵּל הַצֵּל, הוֹשִׁיעָה הוֹשִׁיעָה, הַצֵּל לְקוּחִים לַמָּוֶת, הַצֵּל נִרְדָּף וְחַיָּב כָּמוֹנִי, הַצִּילֵנִי מִן הַשְּׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּיּוֹת, תֶּן לִי תִּקְוָה וְלֹא אֹבַד חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, כִּי מַה בֶּצַע בְּדָמִי בְּרִדְתִּי אֶל שָׁחַת, הֲיוֹדְךָ עָפָר, הֲיַגִּיד אֲמִתֶּךָ. דַּלּוּ עֵינַי לַמָּרוֹם, אֲדֹנָי עָשְׁקָה לִּי, עָרְבֵנִי. עֲרֹב עַבְדְּךָ לְטוֹב, אַל יַעַשְׁקֻנִי זֵדִים.
Our Father, O King, living and enduring God, mighty Redeemer, I have spread out my palms to You: rescue, rescue! save, save! Rescue those who are taken to death; rescue one persecuted and guilty like me; rescue me from the nethermost depths of Sheol. Grant me hope, that I may not perish, God forbid; for what profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise You? Shall it declare Your truth? My eyes languish toward the heights. O Lord, I am oppressed; be my surety. Be surety for Your servant for good; let not the insolent oppress me.
כִּי אֵין לִי שׁוּם כֹּחַ אֶלָּא בְּפִי, אֵין לִי שׁוּם מָנוֹס וּמִבְטָח כִּי אִם עָלֶיךָ לְבַד, עַל חֲסָדֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים לְבַד, עַל רַחֲמֶיךָ הַגְּדוֹלִים, עַל חֶמְלָתְךָ הָאֲמִתִּית, עַל חֲנִינוֹתֶיךָ הַנִּצְחִיּוֹת, וְעַל כֹּחַ וּזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיקִים, שֶׁשָּׁמְרוּ אֶת הַבְּרִית בְּתַכְלִית הַשְּׁלֵמוּת שֶׁאֵין שְׁלֵמוּת אַחֲרָיו. בָּהֶם תָּמַכְתִּי יְתֵדוֹתַי, בָּהֶם אֶשָּעֵן וְאֶסָּמֵךְ, בִּזְכוּתָם וְכֹחָם אֶבְטַח וַאֲקַוֶּה, כִּי לֹא תַעֲזֹב נַפְשִׁי לִשְׁאוֹל, לֹא תִתֵּן חֲסִידְךָ לִרְאוֹת שָׁחַת.
For I have no strength except in my mouth; I have no refuge or security except in You alone, in Your mighty acts of kindness alone, in Your great mercies, in Your true compassion, in Your everlasting graciousness, and in the strength and merit of the tzaddikim who guarded the covenant in the utmost perfection, a perfection beyond which there is none. Upon them I have set my supports; upon them I lean and rely; in their merit and their strength I trust and hope; for You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor let Your pious one see the pit.
אֲהָהּ יְהֹוָה מַלְּטֵנִי, אֲהָהּ יְהֹוָה פְּדֵנִי, רְאֵה מְסֻכָּן כָּמוֹנִי, טוֹרֵף בְּלֵב יַמִּים, תְּהוֹם אֶל תְּהוֹם קוֹרֵא לְקוֹל צִנּוֹרֶיךָ, כָּל מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָ וְגַלֶּיךָ עָלַי עָבָרוּ. צוֹד צָדוּנִי כַּצִּפּוֹר, אֹיְבַי חִנָּם. צָמְתוּ בַבּוֹר חַיָּי, וַיַּדּוּ אֶבֶן בִּי. צָפוּ מַיִם עַל רֹאשִׁי, אָמַרְתִּי נִגְזָרְתִּי. קָרָאתִי שִׁמְךָ יְהֹוָה מִבּוֹר תַּחְתִּיּוֹת. קָרָאתִי שִׁמְךָ יְהֹוָה מִבּוֹר תַּחְתִּיּוֹת:
Ah, O Lord, deliver me! Ah, O Lord, redeem me! Behold one in peril like me, tossed about in the heart of the seas. Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your channels; all Your breakers and Your waves have swept over me. My enemies without cause have hunted me relentlessly like a bird. They have cut off my life in the pit and cast a stone upon me. Waters flowed over my head; I said, “I am cut off.” I called upon Your Name, O Lord, from the nethermost pit. I called upon Your Name, O Lord, from the nethermost pit.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, מָלֵא חֶסֶד חִנָּם, מָלֵא חֲנִינוֹת, מָלֵא רַחֲמָנוּת, מָלֵא טוֹב, מָלֵא רָצוֹן, כְּבָר קִבַּלְנוּ עָלֵינוּ לִקְרֹא אֵלֶיךָ תָּמִיד, וְהִנְנִי מְקַיֵּם קַבָּלָתֵנוּ, וְהִנְנִי קוֹרֵא אֵלֶיךָ מִמָּקוֹם שָׁפָל כָּזֶה, מִמְּקוֹמוֹת מְגֻנִּים כָּאֵלֶּה, מִמַּעֲמַקִּים קְרָאתִיךָ יְהֹוָה, מֵעִמְקֵי עֲמָקִים, מִן הַמֵּצַר קָרָאתִי יָּהּ, עָנָנִי בַמֶּרְחָב יָהּ.
Master of the World, Master of the World, full of mercy, full of freely given kindness, full of grace, full of compassion, full of goodness, full of favor: we have already taken it upon ourselves to call out to You always, and behold, I fulfill our commitment, and behold, I call out to You from so lowly a place as this, from such degraded places. Out of the depths I have called You, O Lord, from the deepest of depths; out of the straits I called upon the Lord; the Lord answered me with a broad expanse.
וְאִם בַּעֲווֹנוֹתֵינוּ הָרַבִּים יָרַדְנוּ לְמָקוֹם שֶׁיָּרַדְנוּ, וְיָרַדְנוּ עַכְשָׁו בְּעִקְּבוֹת מְשִׁיחָא לִמְקוֹמוֹת נְמוּכִים וּשְׁפָלִים מְאֹד מְאֹד, שֶׁלֹּא יָרְדוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל לְתוֹכָם מֵעוֹלָם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב: וַתֵּרֶד פְּלָאִים, אֵין מְנַחֵם לָהּ. אַף עַל פִּי כֵן, אֵין אָנוּ מְיָאֲשִׁים עַצְמֵנוּ חַס וְשָׁלוֹם בְּשׁוּם אֹפֶן בָּעוֹלָם כְּלָל, כִּי כְּבָר הִבְטַחְתָּנוּ לַהֲשִׁיבֵנוּ מִמְּצוּלוֹת יָם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב: אָמַר אֲדֹנָי, מִבָּשָׁן אָשִׁיב, אָשִׁיב מִמְּצוּלוֹת יָם, וּכְתִיב: וְאַף גַּם זֹאת בִּהְיוֹתָם בְּאֶרֶץ אֹיְבֵיהֶם, לֹא מְאַסְתִּים וְלֹא גְעַלְתִּים לְכַלֹּתָם, לְהָפֵר בְּרִיתִי אִתָּם, כִּי אֲנִי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵיהֶם:
And if, because of our many sins, we have descended to the place to which we have descended, having now, in the footsteps of the Messiah, gone down to places so very low and lowly that Israel has never before descended into them, as it is written: “She has come down astonishingly; she has none to comfort her”; nevertheless, we do not allow ourselves to despair, God forbid, in any manner at all, for You have already promised to bring us back from the depths of the sea, as it is written: “The Lord said: From Bashan I will bring them back, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea”; and it is written: “And yet for all that, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them, neither will I abhor them, to destroy them utterly and to break My covenant with them, for I am the Lord their God.”
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם! פְּתַח פִּיךָ לְאִלֵּם כָּמוֹנִי, וְתִשְׁלַח לִי דִּבּוּרִים מִמְּעוֹן קָדְשְׁךָ מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁאוּכַל לְנַצֵּחַ אוֹתְךָ, לְרַצּוֹת וּלְפַיֵּס אוֹתְךָ, שֶּׁתְּקַבֵּל בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וּבַחֲסָדֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים אֶת אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה קַפִּיטְל תְּהִלִּים שֶׁאָמַרְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ, כְּאִלּוּ אֲמָרָם דָּוִד הַמֶּלֶךְ עָלָיו הַשָּׁלוֹם בְּעַצְמוֹ, וְאַף עַל פִּי שֶׁאֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ לְכַוֵּן שׁוּם כַּוָּנָה מֵהַכַּוָּנוֹת הָעֲצוּמוֹת וְהַנּוֹרָאוֹת שֶׁיֵּשׁ בְּאֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה מִזְמוֹרִים, יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהַי וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתַי, שֶׁתְּהֵא חֲשׁוּבָה לְפָנֶיךָ הָאֲמִירָה בְּפֶה לְבַד, כְּאִלּוּ הִשַּׂגְתִּי וְכִוַּנְתִּי כָּל הַסּוֹדוֹת וְהַכַּוָּנוֹת שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּהֶם וְיִהְיוּ אֲמָרַי לְרָצוֹן לִפְנֵי אֲדוֹן כָּל.
Master of the World! Open Your mouth for one who is mute like me, and send me words from Your holy dwelling, from heaven, so that I may prevail upon You, to appease and reconcile You, that You may accept, in Your abundant mercy and Your mighty acts of kindness, these ten chapters of Psalms that I have recited before You, as though David the King, peace be upon him, had recited them himself. And even though I do not know how to direct a single one of the mighty and awesome intentions that are within these ten psalms, may it be Your will, O Lord my God and God of my fathers, that the mere utterance of my mouth be esteemed before You as though I had grasped and directed all the secrets and intentions that are within them; and may the words of my mouth be acceptable before the Lord of all.
וְהִנְנִי מַשְׁלִיךְ יְהָבִי עָלֶיךָ, וְהִנְנִי מְקַשֵּׁר עַצְמִי לְכָל הַצַּדִּיקִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים שֶׁבְּדוֹרֵנוּ, וּלְכָל הַצַּדִּיקִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים שׁוֹכְנֵי עָפָר, קְדוֹשִׁים אֲשֶׁר בָּאָרֶץ הֵמָּה, [וּבִפְרָט לְהַצַּדִּיק יְסוֹד עוֹלָם, נַחַל נֹבֵעַ מְקוֹר חָכְמָה, רַבֵּנוּ נַחְמָן בֶּן פֵיגֶא, זְכוּתוֹ יָגֵן עָלֵינוּ אָמֵן],
And behold, I cast my burden upon You, and behold, I bind myself to all the true tzaddikim of our generation, and to all the true tzaddikim who dwell in the dust, the holy ones who are in the earth, [and in particular to the tzaddik, foundation of the world, a flowing stream, a source of wisdom, our teacher Nachman son of Feiga, may his merit shield us, Amen],
וְעַל דַּעְתָּם וְעַל כַּוָּנָתָם אָמַרְתִּי כָּל אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה קַפִּיטְל תְּהִלִּים, וּבִזְכוּתָם וְכֹחָם אֶזְכֶּה לְעוֹרֵר וּלְגַלּוֹת כָּל הָעֲשָׂרָה מִינֵי נְגִינָה שֶׁנֶּאֱמַר בָּהֶם סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים, שֶׁהֵם: שִׁיר פָּשׁוּט, כָּפוּל, מְשֻׁלָּשׁ, מְרֻבַּע, שֶׁהֵם כְּלוּלִים בְּשִׁמְךָ הַמְּיֻחָד הַגָּדוֹל וְהַקָּדוֹשׁ. וּבִזְכוּת וְכֹחַ הַשֵּׁנִי שֵׁמוֹת הַקְּדוֹשִׁים הָאֵלּוּ בִּמְלוּאָם, שֶׁהֵם אֶל אֱלֹהִים (כָזֶה): אָלֶ"ף לָמֶ"ד, אָלֶ"ף לָמֶ"ד הֵ"י יוּ"ד מֵ"ם, שֶׁהֵם עוֹלִים בְּמִסְפַּר תפ"הֵ (אַרְבַּע מֵאוֹת שְׁמוֹנִים וְחָמֵשׁ), כְּמִסְפַּר תְּהִלִּים.
And according to their mind and their intention I recited all these ten chapters of Psalms; and in their merit and their strength may I merit to awaken and reveal all the ten kinds of melody with which the Book of Psalms was composed, which are: the simple song, the doubled, the tripled, the quadrupled, which are comprised within Your unique, great, and holy Name. And by the merit and the power of these two holy Names in their full spelling, which are El, Elohim (as follows): Alef-Lamed; Alef-Lamed-Heh-Yod-Mem, which amount to the number four hundred and eighty-five, like the numerical value of Tehillim.
בְּכֹחַ אֵלּוּ הַשֵּׁמוֹת תְּזַכֵּנִי לְהוֹצִיא כָּל הַטִּפּוֹת קֶרִי לְבַטָּלָה מִבֶּטֶן הַקְּלִפָּה שֶׁבְּלָעָם, אֲשֶׁר מִסְפַּר שְׁמָהּ עִם הָאוֹתִיּוֹת עוֹלֶה תפ"ה, שֶׁהִיא בַּקְּלִפָּה כְּנֶגֶד קְדֻשַּׁת סֵפֶר תְּהִלִּים, וּבְכֹחַ אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה מִזְמוֹרֵי תְּהִלִּים תְּעוֹרֵר הַשֵּׁנִי שֵׁמוֹת הַקְּדוֹשִׁים אֵל אֱלֹהִים, וְתַהֲרֹג וּתְשַׁבֵּר וְתַכְנִיעַ וְתַעֲקֹר וּתְכַלֶּה וּתְבַטֵּל אֶת הַקְּלִפָּה הַזֹּאת שֶׁבְּלָעָם, וְתַכְרִיחַ אוֹתָהּ לְהַפְלִיט כָּל הַטִּפּוֹת הַקְּדוֹשׁוֹת מִבִּטְנָהּ וְקִרְבָּהּ, וְתִמְחֶה שְׁמָהּ וְזִכְרָהּ מִן הָעוֹלָם, וּתְקַיֵּם מִקְרָא שֶׁכָּתוּב: חָיִל בָּלַע וִיקִיאֶנּוּ, מִבִּטְנוֹ יוֹרִישֶׁנּוּ אֶל.
By the power of these Names, grant me the merit to bring forth all the drops of seed that issued in vain from the belly of the husk that has swallowed them, whose name, together with the letters, amounts numerically to 485, which stands in the realm of the husk over against the holiness of the Book of Psalms; and by the power of these ten psalms of Tehillim may You arouse the two holy Names, El Elohim, and slay and shatter and subdue and uproot and destroy and nullify this husk that has swallowed them, and compel it to cast out all the holy drops from its belly and its innards, and blot out its name and its memory from the world, and fulfill the verse that is written: He has swallowed down wealth, but he shall vomit it up again; God shall cast it out of his belly.
וְתַהֲרֹג כָּל הַקְּלִפּוֹת שֶׁנִּבְרְאוּ עַל יְדֵי אֵלּוּ הַטִּפּוֹת, וְתוֹצִיא וְתִגְזֹל מֵהֶם הַחִיּוּת דִּקְדֻשָּׁה, וְכָל הַנִּיצוֹצוֹת הַקְּדוֹשׁוֹת שֶׁבָּלְעוּ עַל יְדֵי פְּגַם חֵטְא זֶה, כֻּלָּם תּוֹצִיאֵם וְתַחֲזֹר וּתְקַבְּצֵם בִּקְדוּשָּׁה שֵׁנִית. וּתְזַכֵּנוּ לְקַבֵּל עָלֵינוּ עֹל מַלְכוּת שָׁמַיִם בְּאַהֲבָה תָּמִיד, וְנִזְכֶּה לַעֲסֹק כָּל יָמֵינוּ בְּתוֹרָה וּתְפִלָּה וּמַעֲשִׂים טוֹבִים בֶּאֱמֶת וּבְלֵב שָׁלֵם, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לִבְרֹא גּוּפִים וְכֵלִים קְדוֹשִׁים לְכָל הַנְשָׁמּוֹת דְּאָזְלִן עַרְטִילָאִין עַל יְדֵי עֲווֹנוֹתֵינוּ הָרַבִּים, עַל יְדֵי פְּגַם הַטִּפּוֹת קֶרִי שֶׁיָּצְאוּ מִמֶּנִּי לְבַטָּלָה.
And slay all the husks that were created by means of these drops, and draw forth and wrest from them the vitality of holiness; and all the holy sparks that were swallowed up through the blemish of this sin, bring them all forth and gather them once more into holiness. And grant us the merit to take upon ourselves the yoke of the kingdom of Heaven in love always, and may we merit to occupy ourselves all our days with Torah and prayer and good deeds, in truth and with a whole heart, so that we may merit to create holy bodies and vessels for all the souls that wander naked because of our many iniquities, through the blemish of the drops of seed that issued from me in vain.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, אַמִּיץ כֹּחַ וְרַב אוֹנִים, עֲשֵׂה מַה שֶּׁתַּעֲשֶׂה בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְתַקֵּן פְּגַם הַבְּרִית, פְּגַם טִפֵּי הַמֹּחַ, בֵּין מַה שֶּׁפָּגַמְנוּ בָּזֶה בְּשׁוֹגֵג, בֵּין בְּמֵזִיד, בֵּין בְּאֹנֶס, בֵּין בְּרָצוֹן, עַל הַכֹּל תִּמְחַל וְתִסְלַח לִי אֱלוֹהַּ סְלִיחוֹת, חַנּוּן הַמַּרְבֶּה לִסְלֹחַ, וְנִזְכֶּה לְתַקֵּן כָּל הַפְּגָמִים בִּשְׁלֵמוּת בְּחַיֵּינוּ, בִּזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיקִים הַקְּדוֹשִׁים אֲשֶׁר בָּאָרֶץ הֵמָּה,
Master of the World, mighty in power and abundant in strength, do whatever You will do in Your great mercy, so that we may merit to rectify the blemish of the covenant, the blemish of the drops of the mind, whether what we have blemished in this unwittingly, or willfully, or under compulsion, or willingly; for all of it pardon me and forgive me, O God of forgivenesses, gracious One who abounds in pardon, and may we merit to rectify all the blemishes in completeness within our lifetime, by the merit of the holy tzaddikim who are in the earth,
ואם יהיה על קברו הקדוש יאמר:
And if one is at his holy grave, he says:
וּבִזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיק הַזֶּה הַשּׁוֹכֵן פֹּה, צַדִּיק יְסוֹד עוֹלָם, נַחַל נוֹבֵעַ מְקוֹר חָכְמָה, אֲשֶׁר אֲנִי מְכַתֵּת רַגְלַי וְטִלְטַלְתִּי עַצְמִי בְּטִלְטוּל הַקָּשֶׁה בִּשְׁבִיל לָבוֹא הֵנָּה לְהִשְׁתַּטֵּחַ עַל קֶבֶר הַצַּדִּיק הָאֱמֶת הַקָּדוֹשׁ הַזֶּה, אֲשֶׁר הִבְטִיחָנוּ בְּחַיָּיו הַקְּדוֹשִׁים, לַעֲמֹד בְּעֶזְרָתֵנוּ סֶלָה תָּמִיד, כְּשֶׁנָּבוֹא עַל קִבְרוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ וְנִתֵּן פְּרוּטָה לִצְדָקָה וְנֹאמַר אֵלּוּ הָעֲשָׂרָה קַפִּיטְל תְּהִלִּים, וְהִנֵּה עָשִׂיתִי מַה שֶׁמֻּטָּל עָלַי, עֲשֵׂה מַה שֶׁעָלֶיךָ.
and by the merit of this tzaddik who dwells here, a tzaddik who is the foundation of the world, a flowing brook, a wellspring of wisdom, for whose sake I wear down my feet and have wearied myself with grievous travel in order to come here to prostrate myself upon the grave of this true and holy tzaddik, who promised us in his holy lifetime to stand by our aid, Selah, forever, whenever we come to his holy grave and give a coin to charity and recite these ten chapters of Psalms; and behold, I have done what is incumbent upon me, do You what is incumbent upon You.
וּמְחֹל לִי וּסְלַח לִי וְכַפֵּר לִי עַל כָּל הַחֲטָאִים וְהָעֲווֹנוֹת וְהַפְּשָׁעִים, שֶׁחָטָאתִי וְשֶׁעָוִיתִי וְשֶׁפָּשַׁעְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ בְּרְמַ"ח אֵיבָרַי וּשְׁסָ"ה גִּידַי, בְּמַחֲשָׁבָה דִּבּוּר וּמַעֲשֵׂה, וּבַחֲמִשָּׁה חוּשִׁים וּבִשְׁאָר כֹּחוֹת הַגּוּף, וּבִפְרָט מַה שֶׁחָטָאתִי וּפָשַׁעְתִּי וּפָגַמְתִּי נֶגְדֶּךָ בִּפְּגַם הַבְּרִית, שֶׁהוּא כְּלַל כָּל הַתּוֹרָה כֻּלָּהּ, וְהָרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ עָשִׂיתִי מִנְּעוּרָי עַד הַיּוֹם הַזֶּה.
And pardon me and forgive me and grant me atonement for all the sins and iniquities and transgressions that I have sinned and been iniquitous and transgressed before You with my 248 limbs and 365 sinews, in thought, speech, and deed, and with the five senses and with the rest of the powers of the body; and in particular for what I have sinned and transgressed and blemished against You in the blemish of the covenant, which is the whole principle of the entire Torah, and I have done what is evil in Your eyes from my youth until this day.
עַל הַכֹּל תִּמְחַל וְתִסְלַח וּתְכַפֵּר, מָלֵּא רַחֲמִים, וּתְמַלֵּא כָּל הַשֵּׁמוֹת שֶׁפָּגַמְתִּי בְּשִׁמְךָ הַגָּדוֹל. הֶרֶב כַּבְּסֵנִי מֵעֲוֹנִי, וּמֵחַטָּאתִי טַהֲרֵנִי. תְּחַטְּאֵנִי בְּאֵזוֹב וְאֶטְהָר, תְּכַבְּסֵנִי וּמִשֶּׁלֶג אַלְבִּין. תַּשְׁמִיעֵנִי שָׂשׂוֹן וְשִׂמְחָה, תָּגֵלְנָה עֲצָמוֹת דִּכִּיתָ הַסְתֵּר פָּנֶיךָ מֵחֲטָאָי, וְכָל עֲוֹנֹתַי מְחֵה. מְחֵה פְּשָׁעַי לְמַעַנְךָ כָּאָמוּר: אָנֹכִי אָנֹכִי הוּא מוֹחֶה פְשָׁעֶיךָ לְמַעֲנִי, וְחַטֹּאתֶיךָ לֹא אֶזְכּוֹר.
For all of it pardon and forgive and grant atonement, You who are full of mercy, and complete all the Names that I have blemished in Your great Name. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, that the bones which You have crushed may rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Blot out my transgressions for Your own sake, as it is said: I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake, and your sins I will not remember.
וְתִמָּלֵא עָלַי בְּרַחֲמִים, וְתִהְיֶה בְּעֶזְרִי תָּמִיד, בִּזְכוּת וְכֹחַ הַצַּדִּיקִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים, וְתִשְׁמְרֵנִי וְתַצִּילֵנִי תָּמִיד, וְתִתֵּן לִי כֹּחַ לְהִתְגַּבֵּר עַל יִצְרִי וְלָכוֹף וּלְשַׁבֵּר אֶת תַּאֲוָתִי, וְלֹא אֶפְגֹּם עוֹד מַה שֶׁפָּגַמְתִּי, וְלֹא אֶעֱשֶׂה עוֹד הָרַע בְּעֵינֶיךָ, וְלֹא אָשׁוּב עוֹד לְכִסְלָה, אִם אָוֶן פָּעַלְתִּי לֹא אוֹסִיף, כִּי כְּבָר הִבְטַחְתָּנוּ, שֶׁגַּם עַל זֶה מוֹעִיל תְּפִלָּה וּבַקָּשָׁה, לְהִנָּצֵל לְהַבָּא בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָאֲמִתִּיִּים מִן הַיֵּצֶר הָרָע וְכַת דִילֵהּ,
And be filled with mercy toward me, and be my help always, by the merit and the power of the true tzaddikim, and guard me and deliver me always, and give me strength to prevail over my evil inclination and to bend and shatter my craving, that I may no longer blemish what I have blemished, and no longer do what is evil in Your eyes, and no longer return to folly. If I have done iniquity, I will do so no more; for You have already promised us that even for this, prayer and supplication avail, to be saved henceforth, by Your true mercy, from the evil inclination and its company,
ואם יהיה על קברו הקדוש יאמר:
And if one is at his holy grave, he says:
וּבִפְרָט עַל מָקוֹם צִיּוֹן הַקָּדוֹשׁ הַזֶּה, עָזְרֵנִי בִּזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיקִים הַגְּנוּזִים פֹּה,
and in particular at this holy gravesite, help me by the merit of the tzaddikim who are hidden here,
וְרַחֵם עָלַי וְתֵן לִי כֹּחַ וּגְבוּרָה מֵאִתָּךְ, שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְהִתְגַּבֵּר וְלִכְבֹּשׁ אֶת יִצְרִי תָּמִיד, עַד שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ לְגָרְשׁוֹ וּלְסַלְּקוֹ וּלְבַטְּלוֹ מֵעָלַי לְגַמְרֵי מֵעַתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם, כִּי כְּבָר כָּלוּ בְּיָגוֹן חַיַּי, וּשְׁנוֹתַי בַּאֲנָחָה. כָּשַׁל בַּעֲוֹנִי כֹּחִי, וַעֲצָמַי עָשֵׁשׁוּ, עַד אֲשֶׁר כָּשַׁל כֹּחַ הַסַּבָּל.
and have mercy upon me and give me strength and might from Yourself, that I may merit to prevail over and subdue my evil inclination always, until I merit, by Your mercy, to banish it and remove it and nullify it from upon me entirely, from now and forever; for my life is already spent in sorrow, and my years in sighing. My strength has failed because of my iniquity, and my bones have wasted away, until the strength of the burden-bearer has failed.
רַחֵם עָלַי, אֲבִי אָב הָרַחֲמָן, רַחֵם עָלַי שׁוֹמֵעַ תְּפִלָּה, חוּס וַחֲמֹל עָלַי שׁוֹמֵעַ צְעָקָה, שׁוֹמֵעַ אֲנָחָה, שׁוֹמֵעַ אֲנָקָה. רַחֵם רַחֵם, הַצֵּל הַצֵּל, הוֹשִׁיעָה הוֹשִׁיעָה, אַל יִפֹּל דָּמִי אַרְצָה לְפָנֶיךָ, אַל תִּתֵּן לְשַׁחַת נַפְשִׁי, הַצִּילֵנִי מִדָּמִים אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהֵי תְשׁוּעָתִי, תְּרַנֵּן לְשׁוֹנִי צִדְקָתֶךָ,
Have mercy upon me, my Father, merciful Father; have mercy upon me, You who hear prayer; spare and have compassion upon me, You who hear crying, who hear sighing, who hear groaning. Have mercy, have mercy; deliver, deliver; save, save. Let not my blood fall to the ground before You; give not my soul to the pit; deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, God of my salvation, that my tongue may sing aloud of Your righteousness,
חוּסָה עָלַי כְּרֹב רַחֲמֶיךָ, כְּרֹב חֲסָדֶיךָ, יֶהֱמוּ נָא מֵעֶיךָ וַחֲנִינוֹתֶיךָ עַל עֲלוּב נֶפֶשׁ כָּמוֹנִי, עַל נִרְדָּף כָּמוֹנִי, עַל מְלֻכְלָךְ בַּחֲטָאִים כָּמוֹנִי, עַל חֲסַר דֵּעָה חֲסַר עֵצָה כָּמוֹנִי, כִּי לְךָ לְבַד עֵינֵינוּ תְּלוּיוֹת, לְךָ לְבַד רַעְיוֹנַי צוֹפִיּוֹת, דַּלּוּ עֵינַי לַמָּרוֹם, עֲזֹר נָא הוֹשִׁיעָה נָא, חוּס וַחֲמֹל נָא עָלַי, וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי לָשׁוּב אֵלֶיךָ בִּתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה בֶּאֱמֶת וּבְלֵב שָׁלֵם, וְאֶזְכֶּה לִהְיוֹת תָּמִיד כִּרְצוֹנְךָ הַטּוֹב מֵעָתָּה וְעַד עוֹלָם, כְּחַסְדְּךָ חַיֵּנִי, וְאֶשְׁמְרָה עֵדוּת פִּיךָ. לֵב טָהוֹר בְּרָא לִי אֱלֹהִים, וְרוּחַ נָכוֹן חַדֵּשׁ בְּקִרְבִּי.
spare me according to the abundance of Your mercy, according to the abundance of Your lovingkindness; let Your inward parts and Your compassions be stirred for one wretched of soul like me, for one persecuted like me, for one soiled with sins like me, for one lacking knowledge and lacking counsel like me; for to You alone are our eyes lifted, to You alone do my thoughts look, my eyes languish toward the heights. Help, I pray; save, I pray; spare and have compassion upon me, I pray, and save me, that I may return to You in complete repentance, in truth and with a whole heart, and may I merit to be always according to Your good will, from now and forever. According to Your lovingkindness give me life, and I will keep the testimony of Your mouth. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
וּבְכֵן יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, אֲדוֹן הַשִּׂמְחָה וְהַחֶדְוָה, אֲשֶׁר לְפָנֶיךָ אֵין שׁוּם עַצְבוּת כְּלָל לְעוֹלָם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב: הוֹד וְהָדָר לְפָנָיו, עֹז וְחֶדְוָה בִּמְקוֹמוֹ, שֶׁתַּעְזְרֵנִי בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים, וּתְזַכֵּנִי לִהְיוֹת בְּשִׂמְחָה תָּמִיד. מְשַׂמֵּחַ נַפְשׁוֹת עֲגוּמִים, שַׂמַּח נַפְשִׁי הָאֻמְלָלָה מְאֹד, הָעֲלוּבָה מְאֹד, הָעֲיֵפָה וְהַצְּמֵאָה וְהָרְעֵבָה אֵלֶיךָ מְאֹד.
And so may it be Your will, O Lord our God and God of our fathers, Master of joy and gladness, before whom there is no sadness at all, ever, as it is written: Splendor and majesty are before Him, strength and gladness are in His place, that You help me in Your mighty mercy and grant me to be in joy always. You who gladden sorrowful souls, gladden my soul that is exceedingly wretched, exceedingly abased, weary and thirsting and hungering for You exceedingly.
הָסֵר מִמֶּנִּי יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה, שָׂמֵחַ נֶפֶשׁ עַבְדֶּךָ, כִּי אֵלֶיךָ יְהֹוָה נַפְשִׁי אֶשָּׂא. תּוֹדִיעֵנִי אֹרַח חַיִּים, שֹׂבַע שְׂמָחוֹת אֶת פָּנֶיךָ, נְעִימוֹת בִּימִינְךָ נֶצַח. הָשִׁיבָה לִי שָׂשׂוֹן יִשְׁעֶךָ, וְרוּחַ נְדִיבָה תִסְמְכֵנִי. שַׂבְּעֵנִי מִטּוּבֶךָ, וְשַׂמַּח נַפְשִׁי בִּישׁוּעָתֶךָ, וְטַהֵר לִבִּי לְעָבְדְּךָ בֶּאֱמֶת. עוּרָה כְבוֹדִי, עוּרָה הַנֵּבֶל וְכִנּוֹר, אָעִירָה שָּׁחַר.
Remove from me sorrow and sighing; gladden the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Make known to me the path of life; fullness of joys is in Your presence, delights are at Your right hand forever. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and let a willing spirit uphold me. Satisfy me with Your goodness, and gladden my soul with Your salvation, and purify my heart to serve You in truth. Awake, my glory; awake, harp and lyre; I will awaken the dawn.
זַכֵּנִי לְכָל הָעֲשָׂרָה מִינֵי נְגִינָה דִּקְדֻשָּׁה, שֶׁהֵם מַכְנִיעִים וּמְתַקְּנִים פְּגַם הַבְּרִית, כָּאָמוּר: אֲבָרֵךְ אֶת יְהֹוָה אֲשֶׁר יְעָצָנִי, אַף לֵילוֹת יִסְּרוּנִי כִלְיוֹתָי: לְדָוִד מַשְׂכִּיל, אַשְׁרֵי נָשׂוּי פֶּשַׁע כְּסוּי חֲטָאָה: בַּיִת וָהוֹן נַחֲלַת אֲבוֹת, וּמֵיְהֹוָה אִשָּׁה מַשְׂכָּלֶת: יוֹמָם יְצַוֶּה יְהֹוָה חַסְדּוֹ, וּבַלַּיְלָה שִׁירֹה עִמִּי, תְּפִלָּה לְאֵל חַיַּי:
Grant me all the ten kinds of holy melody, which subdue and rectify the blemish of the covenant, as it is said: I will bless the Lord, who has counseled me; even in the nights my reins instruct me. A Maskil of David: Happy is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. House and wealth are the inheritance of fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord. By day the Lord will command His lovingkindness, and in the night His song shall be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.
לַמְנַצֵּחַ אֶל תַּשְׁחֵת לְדָוִד מִכְתָּם בִּשְׁלֹחַ שָׁאוּל וַיִּשְׁמְרוּ אֶת הַבַּיִת לַהֲמִיתוֹ: אֶזְכְּרָה נְגִינָתִי בַּלַּיְלָה, עִם לְבָבִי אָשִׂיחָה וַיְחַפֵּשׂ רוּחִי: הֲיֵאָכֵל תָּפֵל מִבְּלִי מֶלַח, אִם יֶשׁ טַעַם בְּרִיר חַלָּמוּת. פֶּן תִּתֵּן לַאֲחֵרִים הוֹדֶךָ, וּשְׁנוֹתֶיךָ לְאַכְזָרִי, וְלֹא אָמַר אַיֵּה אֱלֹהַי עֹשָׂי, נוֹתֵן זְמִירוֹת בַּלָּיְלָה: שֶׁקֶר הַחֵן וְהֶבֶל הַיֹּפִי, אִשָּׁה יִרְאַת יְהֹוָה הִיא תִּתְהַלָּל:
To the chief musician, Al Tashcheth, a Michtam of David, when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him: I remember my song in the night; with my own heart I commune, and my spirit makes diligent search. Can that which is unsavory be eaten without salt? Is there any taste in the juice of mallows? Lest you give your splendor to others, and your years to the cruel; and one has not said, Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night. Grace is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
וְנֶאֱמַר: הַלְלוּיָה, הַלְלוּ אֵל בְּקָדְשׁוֹ, הַלְלוּהוּ בִּרְקִיעַ עֻזּוֹ. הַלְלוּהוּ בִּגְבוּרוֹתָיו, הַלְלוּהוּ כְּרֹב גֻּדְלוֹ. הַלְלוּהוּ בְּתֵקַע שׁוֹפָר, הַלְלוּהוּ בְּנֵבֶל וְכִנּוֹר. הַלְלוּהוּ בְּתֹף וּמָחוֹל, הַלְלוּהוּ בְּמִנִּים וְעֻגָב: הַלְלוּהוּ בְּצִלְצְלֵי שָׁמַע, הַלְלוּהוּ בְּצִלְצְלֵי תְרוּעָה. כָּל הַנְּשָׁמָה תְּהַלֵּל יָהּ, הַלְלוּיָהּ.
And it is said: Halleluyah. Praise God in His sanctuary; praise Him in the firmament of His power. Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His abundant greatness. Praise Him with the blast of the shofar; praise Him with harp and lyre. Praise Him with timbrel and dance; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with resounding cymbals; praise Him with clanging cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Halleluyah.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, תְּקַע בְּשׁוֹפָר גָּדוֹל לְחֵרוּתֵנוּ, וְשָׂא נֵס לְקַבֵּץ גָּלֻיּוֹתֵינוּ, וְקָרֵב פְּזוּרֵנוּ מִבֵּין הַגּוֹיִם, וּנְפוּצוֹתֵינוּ כַּנֵּס מִיַּרְכְּתֵי אָרֶץ, וְקַבֵּץ נִדָּחֵינוּ יַחַד מֵאַרְבַּע כַּנְפוֹת הָאָרֶץ לְאַרְצֵנוּ, וְקַיֶּם בָּנוּ מִקְרָא שֶׁכָּתוּב: וְשָׁב יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶת שְׁבוּתְךָ וְרִחַמֶךָ, וְשָׁב וְקִבֶּצְךָ מִכָּל הָעַמִּים אֲשֶׁר הֱפִיצְךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ שָׁמָּה.
Master of the World, sound the great shofar for our freedom, and lift up a banner to gather in our exiles, and bring near our scattered ones from among the nations, and gather our dispersed from the ends of the earth, and gather our banished ones together from the four corners of the earth to our land, and fulfill in us the verse that is written: And the Lord your God will return your captivity and have compassion upon you, and will return and gather you from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.
אִם יִהְיֶה נִדַּחֲךָ בִּקְצֵה הַשָּׁמָיִם, מִשָּׁם יְקַבֶּצְךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ וּמִשָּׁם יִקָּחֶךָ. וֶהֱבִיאֲךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֶל הָאָרֶץ אֲשֶׁר יָרְשׁוּ אֲבֹתֶיךָ וִירִשְׁתָּהּ, וְהֵיטִיבְךָ וְהִרְבְּךָ מֵאֲבֹתֶיךָ. וְנֶאֱמַר: נְאֻם אֲדֹנִי יהֹוָה, מְקַבֵּץ נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, עוֹד אֲקַבֵּץ עָלָיו לְנִקְבָּצָיו. וְנֶאֱמַר: בּוֹנֶה יְרוּשָׁלַיִם יְהֹוָה נִדְחֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל יְכַנֵּס. וּתְמַהֵר וְתָחִישׁ לְגָאֳלֵנוּ, וְתָבִיא לָנוּ אֶת מְשִׁיחַ צִדְקֵנוּ, וְתִבְנֶה אֶת בֵּית קָדְשֵׁנוּ וְתִפְאַרְתֵּנוּ, וַהֲבִיאֵנוּ לְצִיּוֹן עִירְךָ בְּרִנָּה, וְלִירוּשָׁלַיִם בֵּית מִקְדָּשְׁךָ בְּשִׂמְחַת עוֹלָם, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב: וּפְדוּיֵי יְהֹוָה יְשֻׁבוּן וּבָאוּ צִיּוֹן בְּרִנָּה וְשִׂמְחַת עוֹלָם עַל רֹאשָׁם, שָׂשׂוֹן וְשִׂמְחָה יַשִּׂיגוּ וְנָסוּ יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה.
If your banished ones are at the ends of the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will take you. And the Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it, and He will do you good and multiply you above your fathers. And it is said: Thus says the Lord God, who gathers the banished of Israel: I will yet gather others to him, beside those already gathered to him. And it is said: The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the banished of Israel. And hasten and speed our redemption, and bring us our righteous Messiah, and build our holy Temple and our glory, and bring us to Zion Your city with song, and to Jerusalem the house of Your Temple with everlasting joy, as it is written: And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with song, and everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
וְנֶאֱמַר: כִּי בְשִׂמְחָה תֵצְאוּ וּבְשָׁלוֹם תּוּבָלוּן, הֶהָרִים וְהַגְּבָעוֹת יִפְצְחוּ לִפְנֵיכֶם רִנָּה, וְכָל עֲצֵי הַשָּׂדֶה יִמְחֲאוּ כַף. וְנֶאֱמַר: כִּי נִחַם יהֹוָה צִיּוֹן, נִחַם כָּל חָרְבוֹתֶיהָ, וַיָּשֶׂם מִדְבָּרָהּ כְּעֵדֶן וְעַרְבָתָהּ כְּגַן יְהֹוָה, שָׂשׂוֹן וְשִׂמְחָה יִמָּצֵא בָהּ, תּוֹדָה וְקוֹל זִמְרָה. שִׂמְחוּ בַּיהֹוָה וְגִילוּ צַדִּיקִים וְהַרְנִינוּ כָּל יִשְׁרֵי לֵב. אוֹר זָרֻעַ לַצַּדִּיק, וּלְיִשְׁרֵי לֵב שִׂמְחָה. שִׂמְחוּ צַדִּיקִים בַּיהֹוָה, וְהוֹדוּ לְזֵכֶר קָדְשׁוֹ. אָמֵן נֶצַח סֶלָה וָעֶד.
And it is said: For you shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into song, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. And it is said: For the Lord has comforted Zion; He has comforted all her waste places, and has made her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness shall be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of song. Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, O righteous, and shout for joy, all you upright in heart. Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart. Rejoice in the Lord, O righteous, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness. Amen, forever, Selah, and evermore.
