Kiddush Levana

Hallelujah; praise the Lord from the heavens, praise Him in the heights; praise Him, all His angels, praise Him, all His hosts; praise Him, sun and moon, praise Him, all stars of light; praise Him, heavens of heavens, and the waters that are above the heavens; let them praise the name of the Lord, for He commanded, and they were created; and He established them forever and ever, He gave a decree, and it shall not pass away:

Some say: I am ready and prepared to fulfill the commandment to sanctify the moon; for the sake of the unification of the Holy One, blessed be He, and His Divine Presence, through that which is hidden and concealed, in the name of all Israel:

He turns his face eastward, aligns his feet, and looks once at the moon before beginning to recite the blessing, and afterward does not look at it at all:

Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who by His word created the heavens, and by the breath of His mouth all their hosts; He gave them a law and a time, that they should not change their appointed task; they rejoice and are glad to do the will of their Maker; a Worker of truth whose work is truth; and to the moon He said that it should renew itself, a crown of splendor for those borne from the womb, who are destined to renew themselves like it and to glorify their Creator for the sake of His glorious kingdom’s name; Blessed are You, Lord, who renews the months:

Three times:

Blessed is your Creator, blessed is your Maker, blessed is your Owner, blessed is your Former; and he dances three times and says three times: Just as I dance before you and cannot touch you, so may all my enemies be unable to touch me for harm; may fear and dread fall upon them; by the greatness of Your arm, may they be still as a stone; as a stone may they be still, Your arm in greatness, and dread and fear fall upon them:

Three times:

David, King of Israel, lives and endures:

And he says to his fellow three times:

Peace be to you:

And his fellow responds each time:

To you be peace:

May there be a good sign and good fortune for us and for all Israel, Amen:

The voice of my beloved, behold, he comes, leaping over the mountains, skipping over the hills; my beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag; behold, he stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice:

A Song of Ascents: I lift my eyes to the mountains, from where will my help come; my help comes from the Lord, Maker of heaven and earth; He will not let your foot stumble, your Guardian will not slumber; behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps; the Lord is your Guardian, the Lord is your shade at your right hand; by day the sun will not strike you, nor the moon by night; the Lord will guard you from all evil, He will guard your soul; the Lord will guard your going out and your coming in, from now and forever:

Hallelujah; praise God in His sanctuary, praise Him in His mighty firmament; praise Him for His mighty acts, praise Him according to His abundant greatness; praise Him with the blast of the shofar, praise Him with harp and lyre; praise Him with drum and dance, praise Him with strings and pipe; praise Him with resounding cymbals, praise Him with clashing cymbals; let everything that has breath praise the Lord, Hallelujah:

The Tanna of the school of Rabbi Yishmael taught: Even if Israel had only merited to greet the face of their Father in heaven once a month, it would suffice them; Abaye said: Therefore, it must be said standing; who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning on her beloved; and may it be Your will before You, Lord my God and God of my fathers, to fill the defect of the moon, that there be no diminution in it; and may the light of the moon be like the light of the sun and like the light of the seven days of creation, as it was before its diminution, as it is said: The two great lights; and may the verse be fulfilled in us, as it is written: And they will seek the Lord their God and David their king; Amen:

For the conductor, with stringed instruments, a psalm, a song; may God be gracious to us and bless us, may He cause His face to shine upon us, selah; that Your way may be known on earth, Your salvation among all nations; let the peoples thank You, O God, let all the peoples thank You; let the nations rejoice and sing for joy, for You judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations on earth, selah; let the peoples thank You, O God, let all the peoples thank You; the earth has yielded its produce, may God, our God, bless us; may God bless us, and may all the ends of the earth fear Him:

It is upon us to praise the Master of all, to ascribe greatness to the Creator of the beginning, for He did not make us like the nations of the lands, nor place us like the families of the earth; He did not set our portion like theirs, nor our lot like all their multitude, for they bow to vanity and emptiness and pray to a god that does not save; but we kneel and bow and give thanks before the King of the kings of kings, the Holy One, blessed be He, for He stretches out the heavens and establishes the earth, and the seat of His glory is in the heavens above, and the Divine Presence of His might is in the highest heights; He is our God, there is no other; true is our King, there is none besides Him; as it is written in His Torah: And you shall know this day and take it to your heart that the Lord, He is God in the heavens above and on the earth below, there is no other:

Therefore, we hope in You, Lord our God, to soon behold the glory of Your might, to remove the idols from the earth, and the false gods will surely be cut off, to perfect the world under the kingdom of the Almighty; and all the children of flesh will call upon Your name, and all the wicked of the earth will turn to You; all the inhabitants of the world will recognize and know that to You every knee must bend, every tongue must swear; before You, Lord our God, they will kneel and fall, and to the glory of Your name they will give honor, and they will all accept the yoke of Your kingdom, and You will reign over them speedily forever and ever; for the kingdom is Yours, and You will reign in glory forever; as it is written in Your Torah: The Lord will reign forever and ever; and it is said: And the Lord will be King over all the earth; on that day the Lord will be One, and His name One:
