בְּעֶרֶב שֶׁלִּפְנֵי לֵיל הַסֵּדֶר, חֹשֶׁב לוודא שֶׁהַבַּיִת נִקֵּי לְגַמְרֵי מֵחָמֵץ. הַתְחִילוּ אֶת הַתְּהָלִיךְ בְּקִרְיַת בְּרָכָה מְיֻחֶדֶת, וְאָז תְּקַדְּמוּ לַחִפּוּשׁ הַמֻּנְהָג בְּכָל הַבַּיִת בְּאֵשׁ שֶׁל נֵר. לַאֲזוֹרִים הַסּוֹכְנִים לִשְׂרֵפָה, כְּגוֹן לִיד אָרוֹנוֹת, נִבְחָר בְּפָנָס כְּחֶלְפָּה בְּטוּחָה יוֹתֵר. מִנְהָג מְסוֹרָתִי כוֹלֵל הַסְתֵּרָה שֶׁל עֲשָׂרָה חֲתִיכוֹת קְטַנוֹת וּמְאֻרָּזוֹת הֵיטֵב שֶׁל חָמֵץ (כְּגוֹן חֲתִיכוֹת פִּתָּה עֲטוּפוֹת בַּנְּיָר אַלְוּמִינְיוּם) בָּרְחֲבֵי הַבַּיִת, וְעַל הַחוֹפְשִׁים לְמַצְּאָם. מוּמְלָץ לִרְשׁוֹם אֶת מְקוֹמוֹת הַהַסְתֵּרָה כְּדֵי לְהַבְטִיחַ שֶׁלֹּא יִתְעַלְּמוּ בַּחִיפּוּשׁ. On the evening preceding Seder night, it's essential to ensure that the house is entirely free of chametz. Initiate this process by reciting a specific blessing, then proceed to thoroughly search the entire house using candlelight. For areas prone to fire hazards, such as close to closets, opt for a flashlight as a safer alternative. A traditional practice involves concealing 10 small, well-encased pieces of chametz (like pieces of pita bread wrapped in foil) throughout the home, which the searchers are tasked with finding. It's advisable to note the hiding spots to guarantee none are overlooked during the search. [Should Passover eve coincide with Shabbat, conduct the search for chametz on Thursday night, which corresponds to the 12th of Nisan.]
בְּעֶרֶב שֶׁלִּפְנֵי פֶּסַח, בִּשְׁקִיעָה, קַבְּצוּ אֶת בְּנֵי הַבַּיִת, הַדְלִיקוּ אֶת הַנֵּר, וְקִרְאוּ אֶת הַבְּרָכָה הַמֻּיַּעֲדֶת:
On the evening before Passover, at sunset, gather your household, light the candle, and recite the designated blessing:
בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם, אֲשֶׁר קִדְּשָׁנוּ בְּמִצְוֹתָיו, וְצִוָּנוּ עַל בִּעוֹּר חָמֵץ:
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to remove chametz.
חַפְּשׂוּ בְּכָל פִּנָּה עַל חָמֵץ בְּעֶזְרַת הַנֵּר, אָסְפוּ וְחִתְּמוּ כָּל מָצָא לִשְׂרֵפָה לְמָחֳרָת. סִיְּמוּ בְּקִרְיַת "כָּל חֲמִירָא" שָׁלוֹשׁ פְּעָמִים לְבִטּוּל חָמֵץ שֶׁנִּשְׁתַּיֵּר:
Search every corner for chametz with a candle, then gather and seal any found for burning the next day. Finish by reciting the "Kol Chamira" three time to renounce any missed chametz:
כָּל חֲמִירָא דְאִיכָּא בִרְשׁוּתִי. דְּלָא חֲזִיתֵהּ וּדְלָא בִיעַרְתֵּהּ, לִבְטִיל וְלֶהֱוֵי כְּעַפְרָא דְאַרְעָא:
All chametz and leaven that I have in my possession, which I have not seen and have not burned, shall be abolished and will be like the dust of the earth.
