ערבית אחר התפלה מתחילין לספור העומר שזמנו מתחלת ליל ט"ז בניסן ומונה והולך מ"ט יום. שכח לספור בתחלת הלילה הולך וסופר כל הלילה. ומצוה על כל אחד ואחד לספור לעצמו. וצריך לספור מעומד ולברך תחלה. וסופר הימים והשבועות כיצד ביום הראשון עומד ומברך על ספירת העומר היום יום אחד עד שמגיע לשבעה ימים ואז יאמר היום שבעה ימים שהם שבוע אחד וביום שמונה יאמר היום שמונה ימים שהם שבוע אחד ויום אחד עד שיגיע לי"ד יאמר היום ארבעה עשר ימים שהם ב' שבועות וכן לעולם. (טור או"ח תפ"ט). ועתה בעונותינו שנתבטלה הבאת העומר אין הספירה מן התורה אלא מדרבנן זכר למקדש. ואם נסתפק לו אם מנה או לא מנה חוזר ומונה בלא ברכה. (אבודרהם).
The Omer is counted from the second night of Pesach until the night before Shavuos. The counting of forty-nine days (seven weeks) between the Festival of Pesach and Shavuos (the Feast of Weeks), connects the exodus from Egypt with the festival of the giving of the Torah. Just as one who awaits a most intimate friend on a certain day counts the days in eager anticipation of his arrival, so do we count the days from our liberation till the day we receive the Torah, which is the culmination and fulfillment of our freedom. It is proper to count the Omer at the beginning of the night, usually after the Maariv Service, and the Omer should be counted while standing.
לְשֵׁם יִחוּד קֻדְשָׁא בְּרִיךְ הוּא וּשְׁכִינְתֵּיהּ בִּדְחִילוּ וּרְחִימוּ לְיַחֵד שֵׁם י"ה בְּו"ה בְּיִחוּדָא שְׁלִים בְּשֵׁם כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל.
For the sake of the unification of the Holy One, blessed is He, and His Presence, with awe and love, to unify the Name Yud-Heh with Vav-Heh in perfect unity, in the name of all Israel.

I am prepared and ready to perform the affirmative command to count the Omer, as is written in the Torah: “And you shall count for yourselves, from the day after the day of rest, from the day you bring the omer as the wave-offering, seven complete weeks shall there be; until the day following the seventh week shall you count fifty days; and you shall bring a new meal-offering unto Lord.” Blessed are You, Lord, our God, King of the universe, Who sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to count the Omer.

Please, by the force of Your great right hand, release the bound one.
קַבֵּל רִנַּת עַמְּ֒ךָ שַׂגְּ֒בֵֽנוּ טַהֲרֵֽנוּ נוֹרָא:
Accept the prayer of Your people; strengthen us, purify us, awesome One!

Please mighty One— those who seek Your unity— preserve them like the apple [of Your eye.]

Master of the universe, You commanded us through Moses Your servant to count the counting of the Omer, in order to purify us from our impurities and our defilements, as You wrote in Your Torah: And you shall count for yourselves from the morrow of the Sabbath, from the day you bring the Omer of the waving, seven complete weeks shall they be, until the morrow of the seventh Sabbath you shall count fifty days, so that the souls of Your people Israel may be purified from their defilement. And so may it be Your will, Lord our God and God of our fathers, that through the merit of the counting of the Omer that I have counted today, there be repaired whatever I have damaged in the counting

וְאֶטָּהֵר וְאֶתְקַדֵּשׁ בִּקְדֻשָּׁה שֶׁל מַֽעְלָה וְעַל יְדֵי זֶה יֻשְׁפַּע שֶֽׁפַע רַב בְּכָל־הָעוֹלָמוֹת וּלְתַקֵּן אֶת־נַפְשׁוֹתֵֽינוּ וְרוּחוֹתֵֽינוּ וְנִשְׁמוֹתֵֽינוּ מִכָּל־סִיג וּפְגַם וּלְטַהֲרֵֽנוּ וּלְקַדְּ֒שֵֽׁנוּ בִּקְדֻשָּׁתְ֒ךָ הָעֶלְיוֹנָה אָמֵן סֶֽלָה:
and that I may be purified and sanctified with the holiness of above, and through this may an abundant flow be drawn forth in all the worlds, to repair our souls, our spirits, and our higher souls from every blemish and defect, and to purify us and sanctify us with Your supreme holiness. Amen, selah.
